Uphill 'B' and 'C' teams both finished the season well with good wins in the North Somerset League
The Uphill 'B' team consisting of Ruth Harding, Steve Mathew, Claire Garrett, Wei Cheung, Steph Hadley and Brian Hadley (Capt.) were at home to top of the division Nailsea & Yatton 'A' and needed to win to stay in division 2. The team got off to a good start with Ruth & Steve winning the first mixed rubber 21-11, 21-14. Then Claire & Wei started their mixed well winning the first game 21-16 but the N & Y pair fought back to win the next two very close games, 20-22, 20-22. The last mixed rubber was equally close with Steff & Brian winning 17-21, 21-18, 21-18. The Uphill ladies then played some very good badminton to win all the ladies rubbers comfortably in straight games. Then Steve & Wei played some great badminton to win the first mens rubber 21-18, 21-13. This was followed by Steve & Wei winning the next mens rubber after a hard fought dual 16-21, 21-13, 21-13. Wei & Brian then lost the last mens rubber in straight games. For Uphill, Steve, Ruth and Steff won all their rubbers. This meant that Uphill won the match by 7 rubbers to 2 giving them 9 points. This enabled them to finish 3 points above Clevedon Feathers 'B' and so avoiding dropping to division 3.

Uphill 'C' team was at home to bottom of the division Nailsea & Backwell 'C' and won by 6 rubbers to 3. The match started with a long hard fought mixed rubber between Julie O'Sullivan & Rob Murray for Uphill and Joanna Kushner & Steve Durston for N&B.Julie & Rob won the first game 22-20, Joanna & Steve came back to take the next game 13-21, then the last game was an up and downer before Julie & rob came out victors 21-19. Maureen Matthews & Scott Horsnell and Nicole Blunden & Mark Hosford won the next two mixed rubbers for Uphill in straight games. In the ladies doubles the Nailsea & Backwell ladies proved too strong for those from Uphill and won all the ladies rubbers in straight games. Equally the Uphill men proved too strong for those from Nailsea & Backwell and won all their rubbers in straight games. For Uphill Rob, Scott and Mark won all their rubbers. Unfortunately despite finishing the season well this team will be going down to division 4 next season.
