UPHILL CLAIM THREE TROPHIE

The North Somerset Badminton League held its presentation evening at the now upmarket Cadbury Country Club. The support from the eighteen North Somerset League Clubs for the event was disappointing and the officers of the League (Jeff Malborn, Colin Daniels, June Malborn, Mary Hawkins and Tony Biggs) deserve better support from the members for all the work they do on their behalf throughout the season.

Uphill Badminton Club held its annual end of season presentation and skittles evening at the Coach House Locking and the Club members had a very enjoyable evening. Mary Palmer presented the trophies to the following, with support from Club Chairman Eddie Prest: -

RECORD ENTRY FOR UPHILL MIXED TOURNAMENT

Uphills internal mixed doubles tournament attracted a record entry of 48 players. This gave the organisers a headache as it meant two full nights of four courts would be needed and four boxes would have to be played two boxes on each night. With so many players drawn at random the diversity of handicaps needed was also a difficult job to achieve. UPHILL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS FOR FIFTH SUCCESSIVE YEAR

The Uphill 'A' team played their last three league matches for the season in seven days and finished the season in style by winning all three. The team for all three matches consisted of Captain Nicky Mills, Mark Edwards, Jenny Cross, Paul Edwards, Becky Halfpenny and Steve Mathew.   The first match was against Mark 'A' who they beat by 7 rubbers to 2.
