UPHILL ‘A’ TEAM CLINCH TITLE FOR 6th CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Uphill Badminton Clubs 'A', 'C' and 'D' teams have all been in league action.

The 'A' team played two away matches. The first against Nailsea & Backwell 'A' was won 8-1 and in the second, they whitewashed Clevedon Feathers 'A'. The team for the Nailsea & Backwell match was Becky Matthews, Paul Edwards, Nicky Mills, Mark Edwards, Becky Halfpenny and Matt Cole. Uphill Badminton Club 'E' team finished their league action on a high. The 'E' team consisting of juniors; Emily Look, Billy Fear, Emily Walker, Andrew Potts (Capt.), Caroline Higgins and Sourish Ganapathi, played their last match of the season away to Avonvale at Clevedon Sports Centre and won by 9 rubbers to 0. Uphill Badminton Club had both the 'E' team and mens team playing matches this week. A group of ten juniors were also taken to see the All England Badminton Finals at the Birmingham Indoor Arena. The 'E' team juniors were away to top of the division Chew Valley 'B' team and lost by 8 rubbers to 1. BECKY & EMILY, ANDY & GRANT WIN CLUB TITLES

The Clubs annual ladies and mens internal handicapped doubles tournament were a great success this year with sixteen ladies and twenty men playing. The pairs were drawn from a hat and played in a one game to 21 round robin event with the top four pairs playing in semi-finals and a final. In the ladies competition all the games were hotly contested and it was pleasing to see that every pairing won at least one game with many of the games having close exciting finishes.
