LEAGUE CHAMPIONS MAKE THEIR MARK

Uphill Clubs 'A', 'C', 'D' and 'E' teams all played league badminton this week.

The 'A' team were away to Clevedon Feathers and won convincingly by 8 rubbers to 1. The Uphill team of Nicky Mills (Capt.), Mark Edwards, Jenny Cross, Paul Edwards, Becky Halfpenny and Neil Burstow, all played well. Only 3 rubbers went to three games, one being Clevedon Feathers only win of the evening, which was the second ladies rubber. MARK EDWARDS & STUART POPE WIN MENS DOUBLES TITLE

This week saw Uphill 'C', 'E' and Mens teams in league action, together with the Clubs mens doubles competition and the Junior Club monthly Tournament for the top group.

The 'C' team played at home to Mendipway and lost by 4 rubbers to 5. The team without Julie O'Sullivan consisted of Becky Matthews, Matthew Valentine, Denise Burton (Capt.), Scott Horsnell, Maureen Matthews and Mark Hosford. 50/50 WEEK FOR UPHILL BADMINTON

This week saw Uphill 'B' and 'C' teams both away in league action.

The Uphill 'B' team were away to Frys 'A' and lost by 7 rubbers to 2. All the ladies rubbers were close, with two of them going to three games and the other one finishing 21-18, 21-17 to Uphill. The highlight of the evening was the two rubbers won by Sue Garrett who was playing up from the 'D' team.

Uphill had their 'A' and 'E' teams in action this week.

The 'A' team played Nailsea & Backwell away, with Ross Maclennan standing in for the injured Neil Burstow. The team won a hard fought match by 6 rubbers to 3, but on another night the score could well have been reversed.
