Uphills 'A' Team Moves Back on Top

This week saw Uphills 'A', 'C', 'E' and 'F' teams in action with three wins and one loss.

Uphill 'A' team were away to Nailsea & Yatton 'A' and won by 9 rubbers to 0. This was a one sided match with only two rubbers going to three games, and only two of the oppositions other fourteen games managing double figures, and then only 10 points. Titles for Uphill Teams

Uphill 'D' team were at home to Winscombe 'C' and won by 9 rubbers to 0. The team of Ruth Harding, Mark Hosford (Capt.), Emma Maloney, Scott Horsnell, Nicole Blunden and Simon Biddle were just too good for their opposition and won all the rubbers in straight games with only three games reaching double figures against them. Nicky & Ruth Win Ladies Title

As well as Uphills 'A' and 'B teams being in league action this week, the first of the Clubs internal end of season tournaments was played, namely the ladies doubles tournament.

The ladies internal handicapped doubles tournament was a great success this year with twenty ladies playing. The ten pairs that had been drawn from a hat then played a round robin in two boxes, both of which had five pairs. The Uphill Badminton Club, with a combined junior and adult Badminton England membership of 158, is one of the largest in the South West and has eight league teams in the North Somerset League.
