Uphill's Teams Struggle

This week saw the 'D', 'E' and 'F' teams all finish on the wrong side of close 5-4 results.

The 'D' team were away to Nailsea & Backwell 'D' and lost a hard fought match by 5 rubbers to 4. The match started well for Uphill with Denise Burton & Rob Morray winning the first mixed rubber but the Nailsea & Backwell players came back winning the next two mixed rubbers. Uphill's 'A' Team Claim League Title

This week saw Uphill claim the League Title for the first time, having finished as runners up on many previous occasions.

The success of the Uphill Club is largely due to the clubs junior policies. The 'A' team has four players who have come through the junior club, with a further twelve playing in the other five teams. The mens and ladies teams are on a rota basis and include some five juniors. The future looks equally rosy with many more very good juniors in the pipeline waiting to move up.

Two Good Wins for Uphill Teams

Uphill Badminton Club's 'B', 'D' and 'E' teams were all in action this week and recorded two wins and a loss

The 'B' team were away to Nailsea & Yatton 'B' and won by 5 rubbers to 4. The team of Brian Hadley (Captain), Jo Eady, Sam Riley, Becky Halfpenny, Dave Garrett and Julie Miles all played well, with Captain Brian Hadley leading from the front and winning all his rubbers with good support from Jo, Sam and Dave.
