Good Week for Uphill Teams

Uphills 'A', 'F', Mens and Ladies teams were in league action this week with three of them winning.

The 'A' team were at home to a depleted Frys 'A' and won by 7 rubbers to 2. Uphill had their normal team of Captain Nicky Mills, Mark Edwards, Becky Halfpenny, Paul Edwards, Ross Maclennan and Christy Langford. Uphill Juniors Watch World Class Badminton

Uphill juniors have two new firsts to celebrate. The first of these was the Clubs 100th junior member for the season, 10 year old Emily Walker. The second was the first visit by the junior section of the club to see the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships finals at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Good Results for Uphill Teams

This week Uphill had a team playing in the Sid Moxon Plate Competition together with the 'B', 'E', Mens and Ladies teams in league action and lost only one of them.

The Uphill team of Claire Garrett & Ross McLennan and Teresa Davison & Neil Burstow, who were beaten by Clevedon Feathers in the first round of the George Rowden Trophy made amends when they defeated St Ursulas 'A' team in the Sid Moxon Plate by 4 rubbers to nil. Mixed Week for Uphill Teams

A hectic week, with Uphills 'B', 'D', 'E', 'F', Mens and Ladies teams in league action with some surprising and mixed results.

The Uphill 'B' team were at away to Pill 'A' and were surprisingly beaten by 7 rubbers to 2. This was a very competitive match with 4 of the rubbers going to 3 games and a further 2 rubbers having games that finished 17-16 and 15-13. Uphills Winning Start to 2006

This week saw the resumption of League Badminton with Uphills 'A' and 'C' teams in winning action.

Uphill 'A' team got back into their winning way when they beat Clevedon Feathers 'A' away by 8 rubbers to 1. Despite the score line, this match was competitive, with three of the rubbers going to 3 games and a further 2 mens rubbers finishing with 16-17 games.
