Uphill Badminton Club 'A' team were in fine form following the Christmas break beating Frys 'A', in the away fixture, by 9 rubbers to 0.
The match started well for Uphill with Becky Matthews & Paul Edwards winning the first mixed 10-21, 10-21 and this was followed by Captain Nicky Mills & Mark Edwards winning the second mixed 13-21, 10-21. The third mixed was also won comfortably by Becky Halfpenny & Matt Cole, 17-21, 14-21.
In the first ladies rubber Becky Matthews & Nicky Mills were made to work hard against Louise Sobey & Viv Nash before winning the rubber 12-21, 23-21, 20-22. In the second ladies rubber Becky Matthews & Becky Halfpenny were also taken to three games before winning 14-21, 21-19, 15-21. In the last ladies rubber Nicky Mills & Becky Halfpenny ran out easy winners 13-21, 15-21.
In the first mens rubber Paul & Mark Edwards beat Pete Trevitt & Steve Rugg in straight games 19-21, 17-21. In the second mens Paul Edwards & Matt Cole were taken to three games before winning 11-21, 21-15, 12-21 against Pete Trevitt & Jeremy Pocock. The last mens rubber was won comfortably in straight games by Mark Edwards & Matt Cole 14-21, 12-21.
Uphill 'A' are now at the halfway point of their League fixtures having played 5, won 5, got 40 rubbers and 50 points.
