UPHILL BADMINTON CLUB

Uphill, Weston-Super-Mare's pre-eminent Badminton Club, has been furthering social badminton in the local area since 1978 and has over 40 men and 30 lady members. It currently has 2 teams in the 1st Division of the North Somerset Badminton Mixed League, which it has won for the past 6 years, with other teams in the 3rd, 5th and 6th Divisions. Uphill Badminton Club held its annual prize giving at the Coach House, Locking.

Club members gathered together for what proved to be a great evenings presentations and skittles kindly arranged by Fiona Singleton and Club Chairman Eddie Prest. Caroline Poole presented trophies to the following: -

UPHILL'S MIXED DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

The mixed doubles tournament, Uphills last internal tournament of the season, had sixteen pairs playing in two boxes of eight. Each box played a round robin format and four pairs then played a box quarter final, the winners of which then played a semi final. The box winners then played a grand final. Uphill Badminton Clubs 'A' teams last League match of the season was at home to Frys 'A' and they finished it with a flourish, winning by 8 rubbers to 1. There was some good competitive badminton, but only one rubber went to three games.
