UPHILLS CAPTAIN MARK EDWARDS MISSES FIRST MATCH SINCE 1997
Uphill had only the ‘A’ and ‘E’ teams in action this week with one
winning and the other losing.
The ‘A’ team were at home to Clevedon Feathers ‘B’ and Club Captain
Mark Edwards who due to flue missed his first match for the ‘A’ team

Uphill Badminton Club had the ‘A’,’B’ and ‘D’ teams back in action this
week after the Christmas and New Year break.

UPHILL ‘D’ TEAM WIN AT MARK
Uphill only had the ‘D’ team in action this week. Away to Mark they won
by 7 rubbers to 2, which was nice going into the Christmas break. The
team had Ellen Davis, Carl Harrison and Sourish Ganapathi all
unavailable so Teresa Davison, Matt Potts and Tom Higgins came in to
play with Emily Look, Caroline Higgins and Billy Fear. The team quickly
settled down and Teresa & Matt won the first mixed rubber 22-20, 21-12,
Emily & Tom won a hard fought second mixed 21-9, 17-21, 21-13 and
Caroline & Billy won the third mixed with ease 21-14, 21-8. The ladies
rubbers were closer with Teresa & Emily working hard to win the first
rubber 21-19, 21-19 before Mark ladies fought back with Elaine Coward &
Alison Kelly beating Teresa & Caroline 21-16, 21-12. In the last ladies
rubber Emily & Caroline worked hard in the first game before losing to
Elaine Callaghan & Alison Kelly 18-21, but in the second game Carolines
head went down and losing concentration, contributed to them losing
11-21. The Uphill men Matt, Tom and Billy then won all the mens rubbers
comfortably. The players to win all their rubbers were Matt, Tom and
Billy from Uphill.
DOUBLE FOR UPHILL TEAMS
Uphill Badminton Club had the B and E teams playing this week.
The ‘B’ team were playing away to top of the Division Frys ‘B’ and won

CRUSHING WINS FOR UPHILL BADMINTON ‘A’ & ‘C’ TEAMS
Uphill had only the ‘A’ and ‘C’ teams in action this week with both
winning convincingly.
The ‘A’ team were at home to Nailsea & District ‘A’ and continued their
unbeaten run, winning by 9 rubbers to 0. This was a match with only six
of the normal nine rubbers played due to the Nailsea team being unable

DISAPPOINTING WEEK FOR UPHILL BADMINTON
Uphill ‘C’ and mens team both had disappointing results this week.
The ‘C’ team were away to Clevedon and lost by 6 rubbers to 3, although
the score does not indicate how close the match was. Four of the
rubbers went to three games, with Clevedon winning three of them and a
further rubber won by Clevedon had a 24-22 game in it. The Uphill team
consisted of Glyn Davis, Julie O’Sullivan, Matthew Valentine, Maureen
Matthews, Neil Burstow and Captain Fiona Singleton who all played well. Continue reading

The ‘B’ team were playing away to Nailsea & Yatton ‘A’ and won by 6

Magnificent 100 for Paul
Uphill only had one league team in action this week with the A team away to Frys A.
The team of Becky Matthews, Paul Edwards, Nicky Mills (captain), Mark Edwards, Christy Langford and Matt Cole all performed well and won the match by 9 rubbers to 0, with all rubbers being won in straight games. This is the teams 3rd 9-0 victory of the season and currently puts them top of the division one table with a maximum 33 points, 11 points clear of Clevedon Feathers A currently who do have a game in hand
MIXED WEEK FOR UPHILL
Uphill Badminton Club had another busy week with four teams in league action.
The ‘B’ team playing home to Pill B won a tough match by 7 rubber to 2. This was an excellent result against a strong Pill team and bodes well for coming matches after a slightly slow start to the season. Continue reading
