UPHILL ‘D’ TEAM WIN AT MARK

Uphill only had the ‘D’ team in action this week. Away to Mark they won
by 7 rubbers to 2, which was nice going into the Christmas break. The
team had Ellen Davis, Carl Harrison and Sourish Ganapathi all
unavailable so Teresa Davison, Matt Potts and Tom Higgins came in to
play with Emily Look, Caroline Higgins and Billy Fear. The team quickly
settled down and Teresa & Matt won the first mixed rubber 22-20, 21-12,
Emily & Tom won a hard fought second mixed 21-9, 17-21, 21-13 and
Caroline & Billy won the third mixed with ease 21-14, 21-8. The ladies
rubbers were closer with Teresa & Emily working hard to win the first
rubber 21-19, 21-19 before Mark ladies fought back with Elaine Coward &
Alison Kelly beating Teresa & Caroline 21-16, 21-12. In the last ladies
rubber Emily & Caroline worked hard in the first game before losing to
Elaine Callaghan & Alison Kelly 18-21, but in the second game Carolines
head went down and losing concentration, contributed to them losing
11-21. The Uphill men Matt, Tom and Billy then won all the mens rubbers
comfortably. The players to win all their rubbers were Matt, Tom and
Billy from Uphill.

DISAPPOINTING WEEK FOR UPHILL BADMINTON

Uphill ‘C’ and mens team both had disappointing results this week.

The ‘C’ team were away to Clevedon and lost by 6 rubbers to 3, although
the score does not indicate how close the match was. Four of the
rubbers went to three games, with Clevedon winning three of them and a
further rubber won by Clevedon had a 24-22 game in it. The Uphill team
consisted of Glyn Davis, Julie O’Sullivan, Matthew Valentine, Maureen
